I love having oatmeal for breakfast - it's so quick, easy, and adaptable. This is my go-to recipe when I'm craving an early morning chocolate hit.
It's starting to get cold in the mornings now, but strawberries are still in season - which I love - so this recipe makes for a great start to the day. If you cannot readily get strawberries, frozen (and thawed) raspberries would be a great substitute.
Strawberry Hot Chocolate Oatmeal
Serves 1
1/2 Cup quick-cook oats
1 Tbsp hot chocolate powder
1 Cup milk (or water, or half milk half water)
1/8 tsp vanilla extract
2 Strawberries, chopped or sliced
Optional: Chocolate Sauce
1. In a microwave safe bowl, combine oats, hot chocolate, and milk. Microwave on high for 1 minute. Stir, and microwave for another minute.
2. Stir in the vanilla extract and top with strawberries and chocolate sauce.
Nicole, this looks so good! What a great way to satisfy a morning chocolate fix!

ReplyDeleteThank you, Janette. And it's hot chocolate powder, so that's totally breakfast related, right?
DeleteThat looks DELICIOUS! I have oatmeal for breakfast every morning so I am always looking for new things to add to oatmeal. I've had it with cocoa powder and that was OK, but I didn't realize I could've stepped it up with HOT CHOCOLATE POWDER. Yesssss :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Kate! I really hope you will enjoy the delicious hot chocolate flavor :)
DeleteOh, now does this look good or what???
